Information about Funding:
The University of New Mexico and the Department of Anthropology host a number of funding opportunities for graduate students.  Many graduate students receive Hibben or Binford fellowships when they are accepted to the program; those who do not have the opportunity to apply for TA/GA and Part-time Instructor (PTI) assistantships.  Additionally, many national grants and fellowships are available to UNM graduate students who are eligible.  These opportunities, as well as additional funding, are advertised through the anthropology graduate student listserv as they are available.  Regionally specialized funding is available through the Latin American and Iberian Institute (LAII) and other organizations; discuss these opportunities with your potential future advisor.  Funding is also available to support a variety of activities, including travel to conferences, museum work, dissertation writing, fieldwork, and research.

Look at the “Funding” page and the Anthropology Department and/or AGSU website for more details about opportunities available to UNM graduate students.

Information about relocating to Albuquerque, NM:

If you have any questions about moving to Albuquerque, feel free to send queries to AGSU officers, who will likely have thoughtful words of advice.
